Why do we use Google Checkout?

This is a question we get asked periodically.  Google Checkout has a lot of advantages over traditional checkout options, many of which can be seen in a tour here.  For us, however, the greatest advantage is cost.  As a non-profit Google had provides us the service for free.  Traditional merchant accounts generally charge a monthly fee and a higher percentage of each transaction.

That makes sense, but I don't like that I need an account...

This can be somewhat annoying.  It would be nice if you could just opt to put in your billing info without creating an account.  The upside is that you only have to create an account once and  you can log into your Checkout account and see a record of all your giving and activity.  Not to mention that you can use that same Google Checkout account at any number of online retailers without having to create new accounts on their sites.
